The Weird Portland Gala and Costume Party

Thursday Nov 7th 7:30-11p.m.
Polaris Hall

Weird Portland United, the only nonprofit dedicated to Keeping Portland Weird, will celebrate its inaugural gala this November. The party will feature a sampling of the weirdest Portland has to offer. From singing fruit to celebrity Llama sightings, to a performance by Moshow The Cat Rapper. Guests will be encouraged to dress in their finest weirdest costumes for the occasion. And come ready for some fun because we will be auctioning off some of the most uniquely Portland items and experiences you’ve ever seen!

The first class of ‘Weird Portland Hall of Fame’ will be inducted, recognizing those individuals who have made a significant cultural impact on the unique identity of the City of Portland. The Weird Hall of Fame is housed in partnership with Weird Portland United and the beloved Freakybuttrue Peculiarium located at 2234 NW Thurman St., Portland, OR 97210.

'The Spirit of Portland' Limited Edition Prints

Also debuting at the Gala will be limited edition prints from the historic ‘Spirit of Portland’ photoshoot with many of Portland’s most notable creative influencers, many of whom will be on hand to sign copies for attendees. All funds raised will support WPU’s newest initiative, a series of micro-grants to be awarded in 2020 to deserving applicants with the most creative ideas for bringing even more weird to the City of Roses.

About Weird Portland United: WPU discovers, promotes, and nurtures the creators and risk-takers that Keep Portland Weird. WPU protects and leads Portland’s culture so that all Portlanders, from natives to newcomers, can contribute to our city’s now famous culture of weird. We find Portland voices that otherwise may have gone tragically unheard, by bringing those together who similarly dream of a weirder tomorrow..

Want to sponsor this weird party? Space is still open for awesome organizations to sponsor the Gala. Donations in the form of unique items are also being accepted for the auction planned that evening.
